Local Expertise Matters

Arizona’s care costs are currently outpacing national inflation. As an independent Phoenix broker, Bill Toth tracks these rates to help you build a plan that actually covers the real-world costs of our local facilities.

These figures represent the median "Private Pay" rates in the Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler area. Rates in Tucson and Lake Havasu may be slightly lower, while Scottsdale often commands a 10-15% premium.

2026 ALTCS (Arizona Medicaid) Limits

If you plan to rely on the state for care, you must meet strict financial criteria. In Arizona, the 2026 limits for the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) are as follows:

Income Limit

$2,982 / mo

Gross monthly income

Asset Limit

$2,000

For a single applicant

Home Equity

$752,000

Exemption limit in AZ

The "Private Pay" Penalty

In Arizona, if you give away assets to qualify for ALTCS, the state applies a "Transfer Penalty." As of late 2025/early 2026, the divisor for this penalty is roughly $8,666. For every $8,666 gifted, you are disqualified from state help for one full month. Planning ahead with LTC insurance avoids this risk entirely.
